2023 Accomplishments
We are thrilled to announce that Verdis Group became a certified B Corporation in 2023!
Verdis joined more than 6,700 Certified B Corporations in over 90 countries, across 160+ industries, leading the way in a global movement to use business as a force for good. Verdis is proud to be the ninth company and the only sustainability consulting firm certified in Nebraska.
B Corporations meet highly verified standards of social and environmental performance, transparency, and accountability. Unlike traditional corporations, B Corporations are legally required to consider the impact of their decisions on all stakeholders: customers, workers, communities, and the environment.
LOVErdis Nonprofit of the Year: Habitat for Humanity Omaha
Habitat for Humanity Omaha (Habitat Omaha) was selected as the third annual LOVErdis winner. This program was created by Verdis in 2019 as a mechanism to allow a community organization to tackle some of its biggest sustainability challenges for free. Previous LOVErdis winners include Joslyn Art Museum (2019) and the Jewish Federation of Omaha (2022).
Once a year, the Verdis Group team offers one lucky nonprofit the opportunity to tackle some of its biggest sustainability challenges through our LOVErdis program. This year’s winner of a free greenhouse gas inventory and Net Zero Pathway was Habitat for Humanity Omaha!
Recognition for Sustainability Milestones
This year, Verdis Group received a Silver Level Award from the Western New York (WNY) Sustainable Business Roundtable for achieving significant sustainability milestones and for continuously improving our organization’s performance. We’re so proud to be amongst businesses that are making tangible efforts to reduce environmental impacts, build resiliency, and enhance their social responsibility!
One of our favorite East-Coasters, Liesel Schwarz, had the pleasure of attending the 2023 WNY Sustainable Business Roundtable Summit in November. The summit provided opportunities for connecting with fellow industry leaders and facilitated indispensable sessions on sustainable business insights and trends. Liesel had the honor of moderating for keynote speaker Eric Corey Freed, RA, LEED Fellow. Mr. Freed urged immediate action on climate change, expressing we already have the required knowledge and technology.
The WNY Sustainable Business Roundtable is a collaborative of public and private sector organizations working together to demonstrate how WNY businesses can take a lead in integrating sustainability into their operations to benefit staff, the environment, and their bottom line.
